If you take a look at Bas Fransen Photography, you will instantly see why I decided to interview him.
I know you don’t want to read what I have to say so here is the interview with Bas Fransen. Enjoy!
1. Tell us a little about yourself personally.
My name is Bas Fransen, owner of Bas Fransen Photography.
I’m 30 years old and I live in a town called Helmond, which is near Eindhoven in The Netherlands.
2. When and why did you start shooting cars?
I start shooting cars when I had the age of, I guess 16 (in 2001). I was always interested in cars, but didn’t photograph them.
I really liked it and after a while I was getting more interested in Photoshop etc.
It took some time until I’ve started Bas Fransen Photography.
Nowadays I’m working for the social media channels of Mercedes-Benz NL, Lumma Design in Germany and I have a lot of customers in The Netherlands.
3. Are you more passionate about cars or photography? (You have to choose one)
I’m passionate in exclusive cars, but I love combining it with photography. Because I want to share the beautyness of the car with the rest of the world.
4. How long after you picked up your camera did you start post processing?
After a year I guess.
5. If you could choose one automotive photographer to shadow for 1 day, who would it be and why?
That would be GFWilliams from the UK, I love his work.
6. What is ONE most important thing that can make or break a shot?
The setting / background. I always try to find a setting which matches the car.
7. Can you share you best and worst shots along with the dates they were shot?
One of my best shots will be the Gold Wrapped Jaguar F-Type (from a local Jaguar dealer). The photo was taken in December 2014.
My worst shot, I don’t know. Maybe it was the Audi R8 Spyder from Shmee150 in Monaco last year. After I took the shot I post processed the photo but many people didn’t like it.
8. What is the best tip that you received and why is it so important?
Every year I travel to Monaco, which is the coolest trip of the year.
I love Monaco because of the circuit, the yachts, the casinos, but mainly because of the number of luxury cars. Every year it’s exciting what kind of exotics you will encounter.
I just came back of this years trip and I saw 2 Bugatti Veyrons, 3 Porsche 918 Spyder, a Koenigsegg, a Lexus LFA, etc…
9. What is the number one thing you want the LTSC community to take away from this?
Feel free to share your car love with the rest of the world. It doesn’t matter if the picture is beautiful or not, it’s about the love of cars.
10. Where can we find your portfolio and a way to contact you?

BAS THE BOSS
It’s funny that he mentioned GFWilliams because he is one of my favorite car photographers and the very first person I interviewed.
One thing Bas Fransen said that struck a chord with me was “it doesn’t matter if the picture is beautiful or not, it’s about the love of cars.” That’s ultimately what begin my love for photography, cars.
THAT’S ALL FOLKS
I don’t enjoy doing portrait shots so I mainly stick to car photography. I do occasionally go out to downtown Atlanta and shoot the skyline, streets, and everything else in Atlanta. But my main focus is cars. Maybe you can relate?
